Overview
The Oman Awards for Excellence is an annual award programme developed by the private
sector in Oman to celebrate the accomplishments of individuals, companies and other
contributors who are creating jobs and driving the Omani economy. The programme
was established in 1998, the year of the private sector.
Initially two award categories, ‘Investment Project of the Year' and ‘Exporter of
the Year’ were introduced.
In subsequent years the Oman Awards successfully introduced further categories including;
‘The Entrepreneur of the Year’, ‘The Tourism Award’ and ‘Public Service Initiative
of the Year’.
In order to further improve the Oman Awards and allow maximum entrants to as many
entities as possible, two more awards were introduced, ‘The SME of the Year’ award
category for smaller private sector entities and the major award of the programme,
‘The Flame of Excellence Award’ for larger entities in Oman that have achieved the
highest level of economic growth during the year. In addition, in 2003 ‘The People
Development’ award was introduced and the SME of the Year award has been excluded.
Finally in 2005 one further award was introduced, ‘The Environmental Award’. This
award will honour achievement in Environmental Management in the Sultanate of Oman.
The following awards will be available for entry in the 2007 award programme:
- The Flame of Excellence
