Many Americans today are trying to loose weight and many will try different diets to try and reach their goal weight. The basic principal is to eat less and exercise more. The fad diets are only as good as the persons will power to stick with the plan for any length of time.
Over the past few decades the overweight/obesity trend in the United States has been increasing at an alarming rate. There are approximately 61% of Americans who are overweight and 26% of those are considered obese. Those with weight issues are more prone to developing diabetes and will eventually need to have diabetic test strips in order to monitor their daily blood sugar levels. What is even more alarming is the rise in childhood obesity These obesity rates do not apply as much to endurance athletes but many endurance athletes do face weight issues.
