Our Day With The Lawyer

Yesterday we finally went to see our new laywer regarding incorporating our business. It was something we have been working towards for two years now, and we felt that now the money was in place and we also have some confidence that the business really will grow, it was time to set the wheels in motion.

It looks like it will be a long drawn out process, with lots of hidden aspects we had not really thought about. We will have to employ an accountant and get accountancy software, and our lawyer also advised us about Public Liability Insurance, which we will need in case there is ever an untoward incident with one of our clients.

We also discussed the need for Legal Assistance Insurance and had a talk with the insurance advisers in the office regarding insurance for the dog, the cats and about life insurance rates in general, as it would be good to leave a lump sum for each other in case one of us dies and the other one has to run the business alone.

I had never realised how many different laws apply to the process of incorporation, and have for homework a manual the lawyer has lent me that I need to read. I need to make a list of all questions I have, for when we next see him.

Hope I shall see the day of incorporation, at the moment I wonder if it will be done within the next 20 years but at the same time it is an exciting idea and feels oddly grown-up.
